Since the College Board announced that the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam would include a project, we started thinking about how to help your students get ready for this new part of the exam.
When we learned that the first project would focus on cultural analysis through music, we put flamenco at the center and started working on it.
We interviewed flamenco bailaora Noelia Ruíz and created two videos that, together with four additional authentic sources, provide the six authentic sources students need to begin the project.
Our package also includes a step-by-step guide to help students understand the project and create their own, as well as a Google Slides presentation to help teachers explain the main points:
-
Las preguntas de reflexión
-
La pregunta de investigación
-
La búsqueda de fuentes
-
El modelo para el esquema de referencia para la presentación oral (PPR)
-
Las preguntas de seguimiento
-
La rúbrica para evaluar el proyecto
We’ve also added multiple-choice questions for all six sources, so you can practice that part of the exam while working on the project.
Un proyecto sobre el flamenco will give students an opportunity to prepare for this new part of the exam while learning about one of the most important cultural expressions in the Hispanic world.
